Adopt-a-grade

Each year students at Columbus middle and high school adopt a younger classroom at St. John the Baptist Primary or Our Lady of Peace Intermediate school in order to form friendships across grade levels.

Each year students at Columbus middle and high school adopt a younger classroom at St. John the Baptist Primary or Our Lady of Peace Intermediate school in order to form friendships across grade levels.

Throughout the year the homeroom buddies send projects to each other and visit each others classrooms in order to get to know about each other. When visiting their friends they do things like decorate cookies, read with each other, and help with flashcards. Building relationships with their homeroom buddies is fun for the younger students as well as fulfilling for the older students.

The Dribbling Dons Basketball Program is offered to boys and girls in grades 4K-5. It is designed to provide quality basketball instruction for improvement of skills necessary for success at all levels. At the same time the program instills in children hard work and basketball are fun.

Foreign Language Department Service Project

The Foreign Language Department has a long standing tradition of spreading Christmas Cheer to people in the community.

The Foreign Language Department has a long standing tradition of spreading Christmas Cheer to people in the community. For over 30 years students have been making personalized mini Christmas cards in a variety of languages including Spanish, French, and German.  These cards are then included on the meal trays of the people who are a part of the Meals on Wheels program in Marshfield.

In addition, this years marks the 21st year Our Lady of Peace students have decorating brown grocery bags in “Feliz Navidad” Christmas themes.  The decorated bags are then given to Pick N Save to be used by their Christmas shoppers.
