Our Lady of Peace School gets new Playground equipment

A big thank you to the volunteers that worked tirelessly to install the new playground at OLP. The playground was made possible through the generosity of the Deb Dietel and the Our Lady of Peace Holy Name Society.

When Our Lady of Peace Intermediate School students return next fall they will have fun new playground equipment.  Funding for the new playground equipment was provided by the Deb Dietel in memory of her husband Dan and additional support from the Our Lady of Peace Holy Name Society.

Spanish Camp

Columbus held their 3rd Annual Spanish Camp June 19th – 23rd. Here two of the campers are showing off their Guatemalan Worry Dolls, one of the craft activities they made during the week.

Columbus Catholic School students in grades 1-5 had the opportunity to attend our 3rd Annual Spanish Camp held June 19th – 23rd.  Campers enjoyed 5 evenings of Hispanic Culture. They played Hispanic games, made crafts, heard stories, sang songs, and enjoyed a variety of Spanish snacks.

Science Lab Update

This summer is an exciting time at Columbus with progress being made each day on the new Science Lab addition.

It seems everyday something new is happening with the Science Lab addition. Bricks are coming off the old building, new block walls are up and cement poured for the curved wall.

Due to the popularity of our outstanding pre-school program we have expanded our full day 3 & 4 year-old pre-school. Because of this we now have a few additional openings.

3 and 4 year-old full day pre-school                                                              7:40 am – 2:40 pm                                                                                      (after school care available until 5:30 and included in cost)

Track Thrower moves on to State

Congratulations to freshman Jessica Jakopin who placed third at the sectional track meet and will represent Columbus Catholic at State in the Shot Putt.

Jessica threw 34’81/4 ” to earn her trip to state.  State is in LaCrosse June 2nd  and 3rd.  Jessica will compete Friday, June 2nd at 9:30.

Good-bye seniors

We say good-bye to a great group of students. The Class of 2017 finished the last of their finals and are busy cleaning out their lockers. We will miss you!

As another school year draws to a close the faculty and staff of Columbus are reminded of how fortunate we are to be a part of the lives of the students at Columbus. We are very proud of the academic accomplishments of our senior class who scored a composite ACT score of 23.8, well above the local and state average. We are also impressed with their dedication to the extra-curricular activities in which 95% of our students participate. Congratulations to Tyler Fuerlinger and Hunter Schultz who were Channel 7 all-stars and WBCA All State Selections. Kendra Baierl and Tyler Fuerlinger being were named news herald high school sports award Honorees.  Our boys basketball team earned a trip to state and our track team faired well at the conference meet with 6 first and second place finishes.  In addition they are advancing 9 events to sectionals.  Way to go Dons!
