2020 Annual Appeal:  The Coronavirus Edition

We know these are trying times, and that it’s difficult for everyone… and Columbus Catholic Schools is no different. On Friday, March 13, 2020, we received a mandate from Wisconsin Governor Evers that all schools must close for three weeks.  On Tuesday, March 17, we were instructed to close indefinitely.

Even though we completed a successful Annual Appeal, we continue to face financial struggles due to Coronavirus.  We are continuing to pay our hourly staff; and our teachers who are still providing instruction (from home). However, a third of our budget comes from parish support.  Unfortunately, our supporting parishes are seeing an 80% decrease in giving from their congregations; they have their own budgets to worry about.  Also, we were forced to cancel our Phone-a-Thon, which would have taken place on Wednesday, March 18.

Now for some good news!  Thanks to our schools’ amazing leadership and teachers, we’ve made an extraordinary transition to online instruction.  Our teachers were trained to use Google Classroom and Zoom on Monday, March 16, and they were teaching our students the very next day.  Our students have made impressive strides in adjusting to this “new normal.”  We are incredibly proud of everyone!  We encourage you to check out our Facebook page to see how we’ve maintained connections and boosted morale with our students and families, with our “Spirit Days” and by posting photos of class projects.

But here we are now, asking for more donations.  First off, if you already made a donation, THANK YOU!!!  Your support means everything to us!  Secondly, if you are struggling to make ends meet, we are absolutely NOT asking you to put yourself at greater financial risk.  If – and only IF – you are able, we’d like you to consider a donation.

If you have been one of the fortunate ones to weather this crisis so far, a donation to our “Secondary Annual Appeal” is a good way to show your gratitude.  Maybe you haven’t made a donation yet and still have the paperwork we sent you.  Or perhaps you already made a donation and would like to make another.  Regardless, your donation will make a big difference and will be greatly appreciated!

To help us get through this school shut-down, we feel we need to raise an extra $25,000 - $30,000.  You can make an online donation with your credit card HERE. You can send in the pledge card you already received, or print and fill out the form below.  You can call us at 715-387-2444 or send an email to if you have ANY questions or concerns.

“Honor the Lord from your wealth And the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10.
