Charted Course - October 2023

On September 13, 2023 the Columbus Catholic High School students - along with approximately 600 other guests - attended the Rural Life Mass at Heiman’s Holsteins, a dairy farm owned by Joellen (Weber ‘72) and Ken Heiman.  This annual Mass rotates to a different location every year as the La Crosse Diocese and Bishop Callahan honor Saint Isidore the Farmer; promote Project Milk, Project Seed and the National Rural Life Office; hand out awards; and convey Blessings on food providers, machinery, animals, fields & flocks.  Many of our Columbus students participated in the Mass as servers and singers.  To learn more about Rural Life Day Mass 2023, click the link to the La Crosse Diocese Catholic Life Magazine story! https://catholiclife.diolc.org/2023/09/05/rural-life-day-mass-2023/ 

CCS has started a new program to recognize employees for their hard work and dedication!  Anyone will be able to honor an employee (teacher or supporting staff) by making a donation in that employee's name.  Donations can be designated to the general CCS Education Fund, a general restricted fund for a specific building, or to the CCS Tuition Assistance Fund.  Any time an employee is nominated, he/she will be presented with a certificate and a pin. The nominator can elect to remain anonymous. The amount of the donation will remain confidential. So far we have collected $130 in donations for our schools through this program!

Thomas “Doc” Nikolai
“Doc” Nikolai was a lifelong supporter of CCS and basketball coach to many middle schoolers.  Doc passed away at the age of 92 on August 21, 2023.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!  When our high/middle school students came back to school last August, they saw many things that changed for the better.  We now have:  new windows!  A new sound system in the auditorium!  And new front doors!  The new sound system was made possible with donations from the 2023 Galleon event; the new doors were made possible by the 2022 Galleon event!
