Columbus Catholic Schools To Host Solo and Ensemble Festival
Columbus Catholic Schools is proud to host the regional Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Solo & Ensemble Festival on Friday, February 21, 2020. The event will take place at Columbus Catholic High/Middle School from 8:00am – 4:00pm. The event is free and open to the public! Additionally, concessions will be available from 7:30am – 1:30pm.
Both high school and middle school music students compete in the festival, which will include schools from Auburndale, Edgar, Marshfield, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids.
“Solo & Ensemble is a wonderful opportunity for growth in the field of middle school and high school music,” said Tom Zimmerman, Band Teacher at Columbus Catholic Schools. “We are able to hear not only the many gifts and talents of our students but we also get to see the hard work and practice our students have dedicated to growing their gifts and talents!”
According to WSMA’s website, the Solo & Ensemble Festivals draw in more than 100,000 students each year, representing every county in the state of Wisconsin. Through this experience, students learn the discipline of rehearsal, are challenged to advance their musical skills, perform in front of an audience and adjudicator, and receive feedback on their performance. Those who perform at the highest level (Class A) have the opportunity to potentially advance to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival.
