SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT COLUMBUS

This June, we will once again be offering our Columbus Dons Basketball Camp and our Columbus Dons Basketball Summer School.  We expect a large turnout, so please register ASAP.  I hope to see all of our young players in the gym this summer! This camp is available for boys and girls in grades 1 through 9.  It will take place outside on the sand volleyball courts at Columbus Catholic High School.  Click here for more information!  

This course is offered to girls entering grades 6-12 from June 12-30; and July 10-28.  High school students are eligible for Phys. Ed. credit!  Click here for more information.

Information:  Your children are invited to Stellar Totally Catholic VBS this summer!  Children ages 4-12 are invited to feel the love of God's light at Our Lady of Peace/Sacred Heart Vacation Bible School. Information:  High school and middle school students are welcome to volunteer at Stellar Totally Catholic VBS this summer.  Help children ages 4-12 live in God's light.  This is an easy way to get a lot of service hours while having fun helping kids grow in faith. Find a Summer Meal Site
There are many organizations throughout Wisconsin that provide free healthy meals to children throughout the summer. You may use one or more of the following resources to find your nearest location. The Site Finder maps are updated weekly.

The School District of Marshfield offers Summer School ALL Marshfield residents (grades K - 6th).  Registration begins Tuesday, April 11 and ends on Friday, April 21.  Many of our CCS students/families do attend summer school and teachers recommend it for students to keep up on reading and math skills.  Here is the link to the catalog and registration details for parents:  https://www.marshfieldschools.org/cms/lib/WI01919828/Centricity/Domain/220/Updated%20Summer%20School%20Catalog_Orange.pdf 

 

There will be a joint VBS Class with Faith Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church.  Dates are July 31 – August 3, 2023 from 9am – 2pm.  VBS is for students entering First through Sixth Grades.  Students must bring a drink and sack lunch each day; snacks will be provided.  Held at First Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Lincoln Ave., Marshfield.

MISC. ACTIVITIES

Each summer since 2017 Viterbo University has gathered youth from throughout the region to experience Catholic Social Teaching in action. Attached you will find a flyer that tells a bit more of their story.  Franciscan CORE at Viterbo University is still open for registration. More information can be found on their website linked here. Franciscan Core is a 5-day youth theology institute that allows participants to experience the church's mission within the La Crosse community. They are scheduled for June 25-30 this year.  

  • Shell lake is 90 minutes north of Eau Claire.
  • The longest running jazz camp in the country.
  • Columbus has been sending 2-4 students every year for the past thirty years to Shell Lake.
  • You have a choice of two sessions:
    • Session one is June 25-30 and is meant more for beginners and first-time camp goers and middle school jazz musicians and grades 9-10.  
    • Session two is July 23-28 and is meant for more experienced high school students.
  • Cost is $725 and includes all meals, lodging, and materials.   There is also a very nice campground in Shell Lake is you wish to camp for the week and go swimming and fishing in the off times.
