This summer, Columbus Catholic Schools will again be offering a Summer School Physical Education course titled Women’s Fitness
The participating Athletes will be following a program developed by Trainers for Women’s Athletic at UW River Falls and Samantha Moeller. The course is designed to benefit all female athletes and help them develop physical strength, improve endurance, and speed. This course will entail 3 days of Strength training and 2 days of conditioning/speed training. The first few days will be spent learning the program, testing key strength/speed/endurance moves, and discussing nutrition, followed by 6 weeks of intensive training designed to prepare athletes for the 2023-2024 sports seasons. Strength training days will consist of lifts that will increase the athlete’s physical strength, improve muscle tone, increase flexibility, decrease risk of injury, and improve their overall athletic ability. Conditioning/speed training days will consist of workouts that improve the athlete’s coordination, foot speed, muscle endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and vertical.
All High School participants will receive .25 credits in Physical Education at Columbus, the equivalent of a one-semester P.E. course. The cost of the 6-week course is $60.
***To receive the .25 credit, a participant must be at 18 of the 23 workouts. If you are unable to make 25 of the 30 workouts, you are still welcome to take the course, but will not receive the .25 Physical Education credit. Many students decide to take the course without receiving the .25 credits. However, if you want to see improvement in your overall strength and athletic ability your goal should be to attend as many days as possible.
