Find out how to get involved!

The Columbus Catholic High School Ambassadors work in conjunction with the Development Office to promote CCS through recruitment activities, community service, and school involvement.  They are seen throughout the school year and are highlighted in efforts to promote CCS and its achievements. They are viewed as role models and leaders, promoting our school system to the greater Marshfield Community.  The selection process is based on an application and teacher recommendation. All sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply for the distinguished role as an ambassador.  For more information, contact Mrs. Schmitt at schmitt.melissa@columbusdons.org

The goal of Hope Squad is to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce stigma and serve as a resource to those touched by suicide.  The program was built by educators in partnership with mental health experts.  Members are trained to take action when someone is struggling.  Instead of waiting for a peer to come to them, Hope Squad members are the ones to reach out first.

The Mission Club raises money through monthly “dress down day” collections that benefit our community or Diocesan missions. Some examples include: the Hannah Center, Feed My Starving Children, and Casa Hogar, just to name a few. In addition to fundraisers, Mission Club is always open to service project ideas to help those in need. To join Mission Club, contact Mr. Iwanski (High School) at iwanski.michael@columbusdons.org

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Our chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.  Academically eligible juniors and seniors are invited to apply for membership and are selected by a 5 person faculty council.  For more information contact Mrs. Wieland at wieland.lori@columbusdons.org or click below.

Thanks to a group of young ladies in the class of 2023, Columbus has started a ProLife club as part of an organization called the "Students for Life of America". Our ProLife club members have prayed, distributed materials, and been vocal in the fight for the right to life and the dignity of each person from the moment of conception until natural death. The ProLife club has sponsored fundraisers at school for the Hannah Center as well as other organizations that help women and children in their journeys of life. Consider becoming a member today!

Group for High and Middle school students (grades 7 - 12) looking to learn more in the fields of robotics, programming, documentation, and engineering. Our goal is to build a robot to use in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge. This is an international competition to see who can build the best robot to accomplish a specific set of tasks. These tasks generally included using artificial intelligence and manual methods to control the robot. We meet at least weekly to build and program our robot. We will then compete in a regional competition for the chance to move on.   Contact: robocchs@gmail.com

Students have the opportunity to run for Student Council and organize events for the school.  The purpose of the Student Council shall be:

  • To cooperate with the faculty and administration for the benefit of the entire school and community.
  • To act in a Christian manner and assist in building Faith throughout the school and the community.
  • To help develop leadership, responsibility, initiative, and good conduct among all students.
  • To provide a forum for student expression. (class meetings each month)
  • To be knowledgeable of other school organizations and their activities.
  • To plan, organize, and assist in school activities such as Homecoming, Alpine Holiday, and Catholic Schools Week.
  • To raise funds and awareness for the betterment of the school.  (In past years we have added water bottle fillers, assisted in landscaping and upkeep, and raised funds to pave a walkway from the back parking lot to the front sidewalk—plan to finish spring 2022. This year we have purchased a new microwave for the cafeteria and have several other projects underway.)
  • To raise funds and awareness for community causes.  (Winter Wonderland Volunteering and Christmas Gifts for community families/individuals in need through parish angel trees, St. Vincent de Paul outreach, and CCS Spirit of Christmas program.)

First published in 1989, Columbus Catholic High School's literary magazine, The Side Inside, is a yearly publication of students' creative work.  Student literary magazine staff members help to gather, select, and organize--into an 80 page magazine--students' poetry, short stories, essays, artwork, and other creative work.  The magazine is published in the spring of each school year.  To submit an entry and/or become an editor, please contact Mrs. Hart at hart.alanna@columbusdons.org

The Yearbook staff has fun, works hard and strives to provide a yearbook that reflects the best of Columbus High School.  They learn writing, editing, photography, layout and design skills. They also learn marketing and sales skills.  The Yearbook staff decides on a cover and style for the Yearbook; and meets monthly (or more frequently, as needed) to discuss layout, content, etc.  Each student is given responsibility for creating specific pages.  This includes compiling photos and writing captions.  Also, each student is responsible for a set number of students in order to ensure that all students are included equitably in the Yearbook.  To join the High School Yearbook, contact Mrs. Mauritz at mauritz.krisann@columbusdons.org

(Please note:  Middle School Yearbook is an elective class that takes place the fourth quarter of each school year.)
