12th Annual Cutting for a Cause Hair Donation Event
Columbus Catholic High School will host its 12th Annual Cutting for a Cause hair donation event on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. This meaningful tradition brings together students, families, staff, and volunteer stylists to support Children With Hair Loss.

Supporting Children With Hair Loss
Hair collected during Cutting for a Cause is donated to Children With Hair Loss (CWHL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically related hair loss.
When a child loses hair due to cancer treatments, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns, or other medical conditions, the impact goes far beyond appearance. Children With Hair Loss provides customized human hair replacements and care kits to more than 600 children each year and has never charged a child for their services.
A Tradition of Generosity
Since 2014, 360 Columbus donors, including students, staff, and parents, have participated in this event. Together, they have donated 1,435 ponytails totaling 3,378 inches of hair. Each year, between 22 and 41 donors take part, making a powerful difference in the lives of children across the country.
How to Participate as a Donor
Students, staff, parents, and community members are invited to participate.
- Minimum donation length is 8 inches
- Participants must complete a sign-up and parent or guardian consent form if under 18.
- Donors may choose to schedule a free haircut appointment with a volunteer stylist after the event or make their own appointment at their own expense.
All donors who register by the deadline will receive a free event T-shirt.
Many participants choose to donate in honor or memory of loved ones affected by cancer or other medical challenges. If you have a special reason for donating, we encourage you to share your story on the registration form.

Volunteer Stylists
We are incredibly grateful to the professional stylists who donate their time and talent to make this event possible.
Volunteer stylists:
- Measure and prepare donor ponytails during the event from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
- Donate free haircut appointments later that afternoon to participating donors.
Salons that donate at least two free haircut appointments will be recognized on the back of the event t-shirts.
