At Columbus Catholic Schools (CCS) we have a number of scholarship opportunities.  All of these are awarded at a Scholarship & Awards Night during our end-of-year Baccalaureate Service.

  1. CCS & CEF Scholarships:  These scholarships are managed by the Columbus Catholic Schools Development Department and the Columbus Education Foundation.  These applications become available in the spring.  We use one online application for students to apply for all scholarships.  We have a committee that reviews the applications and selects the recipients.  A listing of these scholarships can be found below.
  2. Non-CCS Scholarships:  Our Guidance Counselor maintains a listing of scholarships and deadlines which are emailed to all high school Seniors throughout the year.  Interested seniors can stop by the Guidance Office to pick up an application or apply for these online.
  3. Scholarship Resources:  We offer a number of resources where you can research scholarships on your own.

For questions or more information, contact Gregory Brown, Guidance Counselor at 715-387-1177 ext. 3317 or brown.gregory@columbusdons.org

CCS & CEF SCHOLARSHIPS

The following scholarships are managed by Columbus Catholic Schools and the Columbus Education Foundation.  Applications for these become available in the spring.

Dorothy Draxler passed away January 11, 2013.  She graduated from Pittsville High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing and worked as an RN Anesthetist at St. Joseph's Hospital and Marshfield Clinic.  She married William Draxler and her children are alumni of Columbus Catholic High School.

Frank graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1961.  He had many fond memories from Columbus.  He was very civic-minded and strongly believed in the power of volunteerism.  Frank passed away in 2019.  His wife established this scholarship in his honor in 2022.

Gerald and Nancy Bauer were hard-working, honest people who enjoyed helping others.  Family and church were important to them, as was treating all people equally.  They were involved in agriculture their entire lives, from hauling milk, farming, Agri-Business and Feed Manufacturing.  Gerald and Nancy had nine children, 39 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren!  After their passing, the Bauer family wanted to create a scholarship that would celebrate Gerald and Nancy’s legacy of caring and helping others; so they created the Gerald and Nancy Bauer Memorial Scholarship to help Columbus students who are either: pursuing a career in an agriculture-related field; or will be attending a 2-year technical/trade college.

Romayne Schueller grew up in Barron County and pursued a nursing degree at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Marshfield.  She married “Duke” Schueller and they had four children.  She worked for three years in the OB/GYN Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital; then worked in the Pediatrics Department at Marshfield Clinic until her 1990 retirement.  She passed away on October 16, 2006 at the age of 68.

Ron and Ellen established their scholarships in 2016 to assist seniors who wish to attend college.

Sister Miranda was an outstanding science teacher at Columbus Catholic for over 20 years. She instilled knowledge, understanding, and — most importantly — enthusiasm for science in her students. This award bearing her name recognizes a student who has a love and an enthusiasm for science.

This scholarship was established in 2012 in memory of Joe Altmann, a 2003 graduate of Columbus Catholic High School, who gave his life on Christmas Day 2011 while serving his country in Afghanistan.   Joe had a quiet demeanor, was hardworking, respectful of others, humble, and generous.  He lived his life looking for ways to helps others and lost his life doing just that.

By providing recipients from Columbus Catholic, and Spencer high schools the ability to finance their post-secondary educations, this scholarship will be a lasting legacy to Joe.
